Recently Acquired – Flexidisc Edition
I guess Flexidiscs are back in demand just like cassettes. This year has seen flexidiscs released by Les Demoniaques (dum dum girls/tamayrn side-project), Yellow Fever, many others and now Castle Face Records released an entire book of them.
CASTLE FACE Records – Group Flex Vol. 1– Flexidisc & book (castle face) – Spiral bound 7″ flexidiscs in a novelty book style package. A total of ten Bay Area garage rock tracks: Five seven inches with a pair of songs each by Bare Wires, Blasted Canyons, Ty Segall/Mykal Cronin, The Fresh & Onlys and Thee Oh Sees.
CLOUD NOTHINGS – Should Have 7″ ( Wichita) – Picture disc.

CRYSTAL ANTLERS – Summer Solstice 7″ (recreation ltd) – Four song single with 2 remixes and a reprise version of “Summer Solstice”. Hand numbered out of 500 and artwork by Ray Pettibon.
The FUCKING WRATH – Valley of the Serpent’s Soul 12″ (tee pee) – Heavy combination of stoner and thrash metal from Ventura, CA. The Fucking Wrath has a good sense of humor by dressing up their guitarist as Bob Seger from the Stranger In Town album cover and placing it on the vinyl label. Pilsner/amber colored vinyl.
JUSTIN PEARSON – How To Lose Friends And Irritate People – Book/flexidiscs (three.one.g/sound screen design) – The Locust, All Leather, Retox front-man releases a two part book, zine style; both parts have an accompanying flexi-disc. Part One comes with All Leather’s “We Eat Gauche Caviar” and Part two has “A Pig’s Orphan” by Ill Saint M featuring Justin Pearson. Order from Three. One G.
OCS – Songs about Death & Dying Vol. 3 12″ (rotted tooth) – Reissue of early work, pre-Thee Oh Sees. Pressed in a run of 700 on white vinyl, hand-numbered and silkscreen on chipboard sleeve.
Thee Oh Sees – “The Dream” by rockedition
THEE OH SEES – Carrion Crawler/The Dream EP 12″ (in the red) – Newest release by this San Francisco garage rock band Thee Oh Sees. They are now a quartet with Lars Finberg (formerly of The Intelligence) joining them as second drummer and on some tracks, guitarist.
THEE OH SEES/TOTAL CONTROL – Split 12″ (castle face) – Split 12″ with four songs.
Henge Beat by Total Control
TOTAL CONTROL – Henge Beat 12″ (iron lung) – Australia’s TOTAL CONTROL is a five piece garage punk band featuring one member from The Eddy Current Suppression Ring and are currently touring with Thee Oh Sees. Henge Beat is more straight forward garage rock than their two previous experimentally driven 7″s. Gatefold vinyl, but artwork looks like it was done on MS Paint. Do you even remember that program?
